Aside

til death

checking out
she sees the magazines on the rack
Cosmo, Vanity Fair
she buys a magazine and takes it home
articles on love
quizzes about sex
stories of romance
conversation lulls
round by round,
she loads the pieces of her heart
she slips the magazine into the well
concealed carry permitted
she meets him in the lobby
he doesn’t know what’s coming
he takes her upstairs
inside
his home
past all his defenses
she slips her hand into her purse
he is behind her
slow squeeze…
slow squeeze…
slow squeeze…
I LOVE YOU!
she doesn’t see it coming
her chest gets warm
wet
the blood flows
her chest heaves
she feels like she is dying
she turns
no blood in her head
silenced
muffled
he feels it in the chest
…i love you…
they fall together
and slowly die
thirty
forty
a thousand years
an embrace
til death does them part
